In the field of Thai massage, you will be focused on stretching over pressure. You can find courses to study in the U.S. within this specialty, but the cost will be about the same as studying in Thailand. The benefit of studying in Thailand though, is being able to visit a new place and getting to know the culture that the massage originated from.

Instructions

First, you will need to consider going to a Thailand school to learn to become a Thai massage practitioner. Bangkok is the largest city in Thailand, but you will be able to find a lot of massage schools in Chiang Mai, which is located in the northern part of Thailand.

Now, you will need to get in touch with a few schools that you would like to study at. Make sure that all of your options are accredited by the government of Thailand. A lot of schools offer a certification program that lasts a week and shows the different aspects of the school. If you are able to stay in the country for a couple of weeks or months, you will be able to complete a course in Thai massage. These courses can cost between $300 and $400. Next, you will need to register at the school you have picked. Make accommodations for a hotel, which can be about $20 a night. Also, you will need to make sure that you have enough money for food, laundry and other things you may need over the time of your stay. Get your airplane ticket and attend the school. Once you graduate, you will be able to transfer the certificate to the U.S. Each state has different requirements, so make sure to check with your state.
