SPECIFIC
ELEMENTS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Treats
patients according to plan using conventional treatment methods.
Observation
and records show treatment rendered is based on the OT plan of care utilizing knowledge
of the developmental and medical needs of each patient served, including
appropriate selection and application of
exercise techniques to fit the individual patient's needs, and proper
application of therapeutic modalities. Closely follows OT plan of care and
makes no changes unless discussed with OT first. Applies oxygen per physician’s order. Assists
with departmental specific tasks when asked.
Re-assesses
patients and communicates with therapist.
Observation
and records show the OTA assesses the patient's response to treatment and makes
modification suggestions to OT plan of care based on this assessment.
Communicates information on the patient's condition and makes recommendations
to the OT for changes in the plan of care. OTA does not change plan of care
without consulting with the supervising therapist.
Communicates
effectively with other health care professionals.
Communication
skills exhibit a sharing of information in a professional, tactful and timely
manner between peers, the supervising physical therapist and other health care
professionals. Demonstrates an understanding and responds to the other parties'
needs and concerns.
Demonstrates an active involvement in
continued learning.
Promotes
and participates in continuing education, in-services, seminars, journal
reviews, student instruction and other educational opportunities. Maintains
current licensure as required by state.
Participates in activities, which promote
department operations and program development.
Maintains
an active role in program development and daily department operations. Accepts
additional assignments from supervisor.
