Description Job Summary: Job entails 75-80% clinical care and 20-25% administrative duties as noted below. Qualifications Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities Administers diagnostic testing procedures to determine extent of patient\u2019s impairment and the prognosis for improvement. Identifies pertinent patient problems. Sets objective, measurable treatment goals, incorporating patient\u2019s goals for functional outcomes. Establishes treatment plans. Performs treatment procedures and adapts equipment and therapy techniques to meet patient needs. Re-evaluates patient, modifies treatment plan and procedures based on patient\u2019s progress. Provides objective, analytical documentation of patient care, patient\/family education, and information regarding units of services. Communicates with medical\/allied health personnel regarding patient progress, needs, and discharge planning. Observes and follows established safety rules at all times, using all safeguards and safety equipment provided and reports any hazardous conditions, practices, or behaviors in the workplace. Maintains confidentiality of patient information in accordance with Hospital policy and applicable statutes and regulations. Consistently meets work schedule. Demonstrates flexibility when goals, priorities, strategies, or tasks change. Manages time effectively and completes tasks within scheduled time frames. Demonstrates initiative and effective problem-solving skills within the scope of the position. Works with manager to organize and direct staff meetings. Develops, coordinates, and participates in specialty programs, clinics, and\/program development projects. CCCE (site coordinator) for NCH\u2019s SLP, OT, and PT clinical affiliation programs. Works with manager to organize or participates in Hospital-wide committees. Mentors clinical staff. Develops and oversees quality improvement efforts. Works with manager to on board new staff members. Supervises volunteers. Designs, schedules, and presents in-service programs for colleagues. Presents 3-5 in-services to colleagues annually. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in formal educational programs (CEU and\/or degree programs earning at least 40 CEUs annually) Educates the community re: PT, OT, and SLP and performs marketing activities Other duties as assigned. Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required for the Position Skills: Must be able to demonstrate adequate clinical skills and judgment to supervise and support clinical staff, volunteers, and students. Ability to: Ability to tactfully communicate with both internal and external customers. Ability to handle stress and work in emergency situations. Ability to use of fingers and hands to operate all department-related equipment as described on the Department checklist. Additionally, must use telephone, computer, fax, and other related office equipment. Ability to frequently bend, using back and knees. Ability to lift between twenty and one hundred pounds. Ability to stand and walk constantly is required. Minimal crawling required. Ability to bend, twist, crouch, squat, pull, push, reach, and remain stationary for short period of times and perform repetitive motions. Ability to use hands, fingers, arms and wrists, hearing, smell, and verbal skills are required in order to perform job duties. Credentials and Experience Required Master\u2019s Degree in Occupational Therapy required. At least 5 to 7 years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience as an Occupational Therapist preferred. Membership in Professional Organization required. Current, valid Massachusetts Occupational Therapy license issued by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Board of Allied Health Professions required. Basic Life Support \u201cBLS\u201d certification required. Current, valid driver\u2019s license and car required. Special Requirements Regular workweek requiring minimal additional hours, except for occasional weekend duties on rotating basis required as needed for patient care. Must be available to work in the case of a declared hospital emergency.
