Part-Time Job Summary:\u00a0 Upon physician referral, assesses individual patient needs, establishes treatment goals, develops and implements the appropriate Occupational Therapy treatment program. Documents care given. The Occupational Therapist displays and practices a work-style that reflects the mission, vision and values of the Rehabilitation Services Department, as well as the Organization. Projects an image of professionalism in communication, appearance and conduct. Participates in the continuous quality improvement process. Maintains a working knowledge of departmental standard operating procedures, including the use of specialized instrumentation, Quality Control requirements, and preventive maintenance. Performs other duties as assigned. Essential Functions Occupational Therapist I: \u2022 Screens for clinical needs by reviewing medical history, performing systems review, and applying screening tests and measures. \u2022 Performs evidence based examinations by obtaining patient history, selecting appropriate tests, measures and performing regular re-examinations. \u2022 Identifies impairments, functional limitations and disability based on examination data. \u2022 Provides interventions to address therapeutic diagnosis, defines expected intensity, duration of therapy and makes recommendations for discharge. \u2022 Establishes a plan of care in collaboration with patient, family, updates the plan of care based on patient\u2019s response. \u2022 Provides education to patient\/family\/caregiver regarding purpose of activity, use of equipment, home exercise and activity. \u2022 Applies valid and reliable outcomes measures, seeks feedback from patient, family and others. \u2022 Completes documentation in a timely manner that contains all necessary information that meets all regulatory and insurance guidelines. Documentation and signatures are legible. Uses only approved abbreviations. \u2022 Collaborates with Physicians, and other health care team members regarding patient treatment plan, progress and change in status. \u2022 Able to manage a number of patients at the same time with high energy and organization. \u2022 Oversees the clinical work of the Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant and Rehabilitation Aide. \u2022 Meets department standards for productivity. \u2022 Participates in outside continuing education and incorporates information into practice. \u2022 Perform other duties as assigned. Occupational Therapist II : In addition to the above, the Occupational Therapist II will: \u2022 Assist with the education and orientation of new staff. \u2022 Acts as fieldwork supervisor for students. \u2022 Acts a lead in the absence of the supervisor. Education, Training and Experience Required :\u00a0 Occupational Therapist I : \u2022 Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the State of California, or eligible and applied for licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the State of California. \u2022 Current BLS certification. Occupational Therapist II : \u2022 Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the State of California. \u2022 Minimum of 18 months experience as an Occupational Therapist in an acute healthcare system environment. \u2022 Current BLS certification. Preferred : NA Skills or Other Qualifications Required: \u2022 Critical thinking, ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions. \u2022 Ability to communicate effectively on the patient\u2019s behalf. \u2022 Work well 1:1 and in a team to obtain better than expected outcomes. \u2022 Possesses a knowledge of the business of healthcare along the continuum of care, clinical decision support data analysis\/synthesis, and quality improvement, regulatory and legislative issues. \u2022 Self-directed individual with ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines, excellent attention to detail, and maintain a high level of work quality. \u2022 Proven ability to interface with all customer levels (physicians, Organizational staff, insurance companies, patients and family members). \u2022 Decisive and capable of exercising good judgment under pressure. Preferred: \u2022 Qualified bilingual or multilingual candidates. \u2022 Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, plus healthcare database systems.
