Description:
Occupational Health has a 12- 18 month full-time opening for an Occupational Health Nurse. This nurse will work as a member of the occupational health team. The position is accountable to the team and ultimately the site Medical Director. This is a contract fulltime position with core hours 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Monday – Friday with a 30 minute lunch break.
Occupational Health Nursing Summary:
Occupational health nurse who truly enjoys employee engagement and interactions with the various levels of the corporate and employee interface.
Evaluation and treatment of occupational and non-occupational injuries/illnesses demonstrating a true interest in employee well-being.
Evaluates employees physical condition for assigned job duties with a desire to keep people actively and safely engaged in work.
Return to work clearances protecting both the employee and the company from harm.
Performance of mandatory occupational health testing: e.g. audiometric testing (CAOHC certification a plus), spirometry, and respirator fit testing.
Drug and alcohol testing: breath alcohol testing using evidential breath tester, hair test collection, urine drug test collection. All with appropriate chain of custody procedures. DOT and BAT certifications REQUIRED.
Absence management for occupational and non-occupational illness/injuries under the short-term disability program. Coordination with the employee, supervisor, safety persons, and HR.
FML review, completion of medical review and disposition
Medical emergency response to Naperville campus (multiple building over a wide geographic area- therefore ability to ambulate and respond quickly is REQUIRED.
Ability to lead medical emergency response with site ERT (Emergency response technicians) until ambulance arrives, or affected individual brought to occupational health for further care.
Ability to teach AED, CPR, First Aid and Blood born pathogen. Instructor certification a plus.
Involvement in ergonomic evaluations of program participants.
Maintain confidential medical records and information.
Involvement in planning and delivery of site wellness activities with a genuine interest in employee and population health and well being
Ability to draw blood samples on employees REQUIRED.
Ability to perform an electrocardiogram REQUIRED.
Assessment and vaccination of international travellers with travel vaccines (including yellow fever, typhoid, Japanese B encephalitis, rabies, Twinrix etc.) REQUIRED.
Some additional requirements for the role:
Unrestricted Illinois nursing license.
Demonstration of hepatitis B immunization and titers, TB test.
Certifications to include:
Hearing conservation testing training
Spirometry training
Drug test collection- specifically urine and or hair collection certification through Department of transportation
BAT technician certification
Preferred Skills:
Illinois licensed registered nurse. Bachelors in nursing preferred.
Occupational health experience- corporate environment preferred.
Ability to perform audiometric hearing testing with CAOHC certification highly desirable
Ability to perform pulmonary function testing with NIOSH certification highly desirable
Urine drug test collection with DOT training certification
Hair test collection
Current Breath alcohol technician certification.
Current CPR, AED, Blood born pathogen certification required
Instructor status for CPR, AED, first aid under American Heart Association or National Safety Council a plus.
Certified case manager desirable
